| My
mother and I visited a stained glass retail store. I saw this
beautiful clock on the wall. I wanted to buy it, my mother suggested
that I take a class and make it. I took lessons in 1994. I started
out by making a beautiful fan nightlight-from that time on I was
in love with stained glass. I made two windows for my house, suncatchers,
nightlights and a lamp for Mom and myself. Soon our houses were
filled with stained glass! Then I made boxes, kaleidoscopes and
more suncatchers. After making several stained glass pieces, my
mother suggested that we start doing shows. Mom did porcelain
painting and had exhibited in many shows. We started exhibiting
in shows. I exhibited in my first juried art show in 1999 and
now do 15-20 juried art shows all over the state of Florida between
September and May. My studio is in our garage over flowing with
glass, glass supplies and equipment. I've been taken over by stained
glass and I enjoy every minute of it. By the way I still don't
have that CLOCK!
In
March of 2001, I began to form glass in a kiln. What fun! I now
combine kiln formed glass and stained glass together, making one
piece of art. By combining both forms of glass, the design takes
on a new character. My designs are one of a kind. My artwork is
created from photographs I have taken or memories of where I
have been - on vacation or just in my travels around town, or an
abstract design I create as it develops.
